Im seeing red

Why hello there, It was a red kinda day since fall always makes me want to wear hues of red, yellow and orange but today I saw red.

Saw this red little number in my closet and said, "YASSSS!"

Sometimes being a plus size and fun size at the same time it can be hard to find dresses that flatter.
Tatyana, Pinup girl clothing, Retrolicous and Bernie Dexter are great for creating a shape that shows off the curves and doesn't create frumpiness that so many other companies can.

This dress is from Tatyana. I really do adore that it gives me a shape that is sassy.

I got it on sale at the Tatyana store near Height and Asbury in San Francisco as a birthday gift from my mother in law.

Close up my shoes, they are from DSW and the brand is called crown vintage. they are actually wedges.

The Birds

I'm a huge fan of anything spooky. So since we are now in the fall season and well pretty darn close to Halloween. I got Hitchcock on the mind.

Scary huh!

This dress was perfect for my slightly spooky but bird themed Hitchcockian (yeah sometimes we make up words) mood.

So I might not be a buxom blond and I might be lacking the blood.  But here's an Extreme close up of birds printed in gold on my dress!!

This dress has a eerie essence its made by Retrolicioius and I got it from Modcloth about two years ago.

Its been loved and Its great for fall because it has a layer and some added crinoline for some puffiness.

It also features a connected wrap around sash that ties right in the front or back if you wish.

And this dress is also soooooooo comfy.

Which is a relief when your getting or not getting attacked by birds.

Here are the shoes By Mia which keep my toes and feet protected with a bird cage elegance.

And if I had to run from some birds, these stylish wedges would help with a faster get away than heels.

In Bloom: Part 2

So from the last post you know I got to see the In Bloom Exhibit at the Denver Art Museum.

And its to no surprise that I only felt inspired to wear attire that was very in bloom itself.

This dress is the embodiment of a Monet painting .

Which is something I tend to keep an eye out for.

Growing up in the 90's as I did I had my stage of flower dresses.

But it's a relief that I can find prints that I feel are elevated in serine landscapes.

That simply make my inside twist and shout in pure lady like joy. Your looks may change through out decades, but there is usually a renaissance in your style as one evolves. The older I get the more the essence of art infused style with a call back to a by gone era I get, which I like.

oh and comfortable shoe alert with cut outs as well.

Outfit Details:
Dress: Bernie Dexter/Veronique dress in Serenity Bridge print
Shoes: Naturalizer/ TJ Maxx simular
Petticoat: Hellbunny/ mod cloth

In Bloom: Part 1

My husband is the absolute best! He surprised me a visit here!

The exhibit was called In Bloom and it had French and Dutch Impressionist artist portraying still life's and the subject matter was all flowers. Hence In Bloom.......believe me it was Nirvana for the eyes.

I had no clue where he was taking me because there was a festival in the city and he said he wanted to check that out........well we park and walk from the parking garage. I look ahead and saw this............

Oh you know just some Claus Oldenburg hanging out. So naturally I freak out because I've taught with this piece in my classroom in the past. I start running towards it because nothing lights up my world like a fuse box when I see outside art.

I've seen a lot of his work in various city's and I my heart still races. Its true love guys. I mean that of course in two ways. Haha

Here is some of the exhibit below:

This exhibit also had a sensory part in which there was these little air freshener's that has various scents of flowers which was great when smelling them and viewing the art works.

What a lovely day I even got time to fool around and look at Denver's art museum collection. Ill have an outfit completely inspired by this exhibit so stay tuned for my next post.

The Nike Awaken

The Winged Victory of Samothrace
circa 220-185 BC
Samothrace
Parian marble for the statue and gray Rhodian marble for the boat and base
total H. 5.57 m
Paris, Musée du Louvre

She is also known as the Nike, in which Nike brand of shoes was named after.

I will see this sculpture before I die.

She resides in The Louvre in Paris, I hear she is mighty at nine feet tall and that's not counting the base. I've always felt inspired by this piece as a symbol for strength in femininity. So today she is my inspiration behind this outfit of the day.

When I wear a dress I too feel strong and feminine at the same time. I feel its my armor. I feel beautiful, inviting and strong. I feel like my insecurities that may linger from time to time vanquished. There is a reason why this sculpture stands for victory. It has inspired me to feel victorious within my own skin.

I have sculpted in various mediums myself but have never touched marble, and the movement in her dress , simply amazes me. The skill and talent to carve out something made of stone but to make it look so delicate and flowing as if it is alive is just part of the magic that art can bring. That juxtaposition between hard surface but soft to look at is exactly the mind blowing.

I think it can be paralleled to how I feel empowered as a woman. I believe every woman can have a soft side and a strong side and I think both can exist equally.

So thank you Nike for being that visual representation of that feeling. This dress also made the flow of the fabric become the essence of soft, but today I felt incredibly strong in it.

Outfit Details: Dress/ JCpenny
Shoes: Sanuk/ DSW

P.S. These shoes are extremely comfortable, my friend Melissa got me hooked on them. They have a Yoga Matt bottom and the wrap of the sandal is cloth. the most comfortable flip flops I've ever owned. Fins them here
