Just Desserts

Wayne Thiebaud is an American painter best known for his colorful works depicting objects, such as pies,  ice cream cones, pastries, and hot dogs. Lets just say that his art work is in my subconscious. Maybe its because I really like dessert and food in general.

It seems that my inspiration for many things, including my wardrobe choices are drawn from art work. I find art to be a re-occurring theme in my life, may it be by my clothing choices or my esthetics in general, art is always an underlying connection for me.

Where does it all come from? Well I have spent the last 8 years of my life teaching art in public schools and a private art studio. It also stems back to my childhood experiences, as a child I created art and it never stopped. It continued into my life's passion on teaching others to enjoy art. It is no wonder that artistic imagery melts into my existence. The magic of art and the mundane of my daily life, are always intertwined.

So naturally when I saw this dress, I had to have it!

The print reminded me of Thiebaud's art work and I simply fell in love. I got it from Modcloth and its called "Your in luck dress in pie". Made by the company Bea & Dot.

I wore this delicious beauty recently. My fiancé and I had the pleasure to volunteer as hosts to a car show at the veterans hospital for a family member. It was an awesome day filled with putting smiles on veteran patients faces as we showed and drove this 66' 427CI corvette string ray in a parade, bringing patients out of their beds to enjoy the cars of yesteryear. I thought nothing says "American pie" like a dress printed with pies. It was a great way to honor veterans and I felt really good about spreading the joy that day.
