The Palace

Its close to the holidays and my fiancĂ© , myself and future father in law went to meet up with my future mother in law,  and her best friend at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco for cocktails.  This Hotel is drop dead gorgeous and rich in history. The architecture is pure glamour.

The Palace is a landmark historic hotel in San Francisco. It is located at corner of Market and New Montgomery street.  Originally in 1875 Palace Hotel (which had been demolished after being gutted by the fire caused by the 1906 San Francisco earthquake) the present structure  was rebuilt and opened on December 19, 1909. We ventured in the hotel taking in his beauty.

The hotel was beautifully decorated for the holiday season, I could've worn a dress that represented the season but I felt my Bernie Dexter dress in Poppy's seemed much more my take on rebirth by taking in the spirit of rebirth, of the building and with the state flower represented on my dress. This inspiration is also mirroring the rebirth of my life on the west coast. Ok so I'm getting a little cheesy with the poetic nature of my inspiration this week.

Look at these cute ginger bread houses, they were three times the size of me. I contemplated eating them.

Starry Night

Today's inspiration is from one of my favorite painters. Ok this painting below is not the original Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh. My fiancĂ© and I painted this reproduction for our living room together.

The real Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh can be seen at the Museum of Modern Art In New York City. It is Van Gogh's best-known painting and one of the most recognized paintings in the world.
The Beauty in Van Gogh's work is the fast paced emotionally driven textures in his brush strokes.

As you guessed it those brush strokes of Starry Night have been captured and printed onto this dress. So my nerdy art teacher ways said, "ummmm I need that".

This Beauty was made by a company named Geode and is it even has a built in petticoat.

I got this dress on Modcloth, It's called Down to a Fine Art. There is even a video on the dress and its movement check it out here.

Fall leafs : Gobble Gobble: Part Deux

So here it is my second thanksgiving day outfit. The inspiration from this one is simple, its my favorite season which is fall and although it feels like fall I'm missing the bag loads of leaves that fall of off trees. Wait a minute, Im missing a leg..........
......oh wait there it is. This dress by Retrolicious thankfully caught up my memories of fall on the east coast and put them on this dress to remind me of the ever so powerful seasons.

I got this one off of Modcloth, it is called sights of the season. I fell for this dress and knew I had to have this one. Its a cotton dress and the circle skirt flows nicely.

I paired her off with a lil black open cardigan shrug and some nice heels to contrast with the bright fall leaves.

These are Clark shoes, The Indigo line and they are so comfortable.

A Dot Of Fall AKA Gobble Gobble Part: Uno

Well we are well into the season of winter now, however it still feels like fall to me. I am in a new location and it is not snowing, a lot different than my usual Thanksgiving/fall. I miss the fall leaves but feel extremely thankful because I got to celebrate thanksgiving four times this year with my fiance's family.  I do miss my mom's apple pie made with local apples on the east coast, but I must admit I feel really lucky to have an east coast and west coast family in which both have such warm inviting homes for me to celebrate holidays with. I'm going to miss the snow on Christmas thou.

Today's outfit was one of my Thanksgiving outfits. This one may look a little turkey like but it was actually inspired by the children's book The Dot. The Dot was a book I would use in my art class when I heard a lot of students claim, "I Cant Draw". The Dot is a book written and illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds. The Dot is about a girl named Vashti who thinks she can't draw.

One of my favorite quotes in the book is when the teacher says "Make a mark and see where it takes you". In a way I felt like Ive been living that quote by moving to the west coast. You can check out a video of the book here.
This dress has a lot of orange dots so it made me think of fall naturally, and that made it perfect for thanksgiving dinner. I think of all my past thanksgivings and I smile in memory of my father carving the turkey and the wonderful food my mother prepared. My brother and sister being silly. I miss them tons. I am happy I have those memories and that I am creating new ones too.
